MouseWheelListener for DateSpinner

Postby arazvi » Thu Jul 27, 2006 5:46 am

It would be nice if you could scroll up/down the fields of a DateSpinner
using the mouse wheel. The current approach of having to click in a
field, then move the mouse to the arrow, then click the arrow takes more
effort than is required.

Asad.

It sounds like this feature should be part of JSpinner in Swing. I'll see if we can add it in JIDE code. I'll let you know.

Just so you know, this is fixed in DateSpinner. We even added SpinnerWheelSupport class to support any JSpinner.

Hi

Is it possible to invert the mousewheel direction inside the DateSpinner? At the moment the number goes down when i use the wheel upwards - this is the wrong direction, the number should be increased instead.

thanks and kind regards..

It's a consistent behavior with Windows default spinners. Please try to configure the clock in Windows and get a time spinner. You will see how Windows react to the mouse wheel.

Hello

I tried different Windows versions (Win7 Ultimate (german), WinXP (german), WinXP 64 (english)). Every Timespinner behaves the same - the number increases when i use the mousewheel upwards (upwards means forwards - away from me). And for me this is an absolutely logical and natural behaviour. What about the arrow Buttons in the DateSpinner? They behave like they have to - up increases the number. Also do the Arrow Keys on the Keyboard. Everything is fine except the mousewheel rotation direction.

In what version of Windows do the TimeSpinners react as you described?

kind regards..

Sorry that I didn't mention that JIDE DateSpinner behave exactly like Windows. It will increase the number while moving wheels upwards. I tried it in 2.10.2. Can you please let us know the JIDE release number, your OS, etc. if you notice a different behavior?

Thanks,

Okay I see ;)

I work with an older version of Jide (1.9x). The current version seemingly works fine. So I really have to think about updating our components with the current jide version.

Thanks a lot and kind regards.
