Enhanced scrollbar with physical simulation

Postby flyerfred » Tue Jul 08, 2008 4:25 am

Hello,

I was looking at the Apple IPhone user interface, and I was thinking that it would be cool to have a JScrollBar able to move up or down on its own, depending on how fast it is moved by the user and the mouse...

Looks like to do this, there's a need for a certain time to evaluate the speed when the scrollbar is moved by the mouse, and then let the scrollbar move at this speed, and decrease the speed to 0.

I thought about this too. However the touch interface is based on touch screen. It is different from the mouse interface. So not all cool ideas of the iPhone are applicable to the mouse. Below are two useful links.

Auto-scroll which is mouse's answer to the scrolling issue which has been there on Windows for a long time.
