iTunes style 'buttons' in table columns

Postby jmbollard » Wed Sep 26, 2007 9:28 am

I'll give a couple of examples from iTunes.

If you go to the iTunes Store and select any album, it brings you to a screen with a table of the songs at the bottom of the screen. In the Artist column, you see an round arrow image. Clicking on that will take you to the Artist page.

If you have an iTunes library, when you select a song, the same arrow image will show up in the Name, Artist, and Album columns.

It would be great to have a renderer that allowed:

1) Just an 'image button' in a single column
2) Text and an 'image button' in a single column
3) Multiple 'image buttons' in a single column
4) Text and multiple 'image buttons' in a single column

Appreciate any feedback or direction.

Thanks,
John

It's not easy to make such a button renderer as JTable just paints the image. So to implement mouse clicking is not easy. There are discussions on this in this forum as well as on the web. So far, I haven't found a good solution.
