You just need to change DockingManager's property initWestSplit to Horizontal Split.

Thanks for the quick reply, however even after changing the initWestSplit to Horizontal, the "preview in.." results in frame 1 and 2 being tabbed.

1. I've stated a new project (restarted the visual designer)
2. Created the 3 frames and arranged them accordingly
3. Change the initWestSplit property to Horizontal

still same effect :(

One more thing - you need to manually change the initIndex of the frame2 to 1. Dnd operation doesn't affect initIndex because there is no way for us to tell which index it is. So if you press the "reset" button, you will see exactly what you will see when you preview.

I am laughing at myself right now..works great.. thanks alot for the prompt reply.

One small issue with VD is that it does not reset the properties of the DockingManager when a "new" layout is started.

Sometimes I change props around for testing and forget their original (default) states. The old states are kept even if a new layout is started.

thanks again

THe same docking manager is reused. That's probably why. I'll see if we can create a new one in this case.

Thanks for the update, however, it seems that the Visual Designer Cannot load back the saved layout XMLs now.

Ive tried it on three machines, launching it from Webstart.

I can design and save, however opening a saved layout simply results in a blank screen though the status bar claims that the file was loaded.

I reproduced and fixed it. I'll let you know when we update the webstart link.
