Comprehensive framework

Postby sse » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:50 am

We are currently looking for a comprehensive application design framework (binding, ui, actions - MVC).

In your introduction you indicate :

".../...
In the future, we will either extend our framework product to cover model and control layer, or integrate with leading client frameworks, to provide a complete framework solution."

Could you tell us if you have taken any steps toward this initiative.

If so, could you tell us the next steps (release content - dates).

Regards

There are on-going efforts to integerate JIDE into Spring RCP and NetBeans RCP. Both are open sourced at java.net (jide-springrcp, jide-nbm). There is also a planned effort to integrate with Oracle ADF components. Not sure if you are interested in.

Thanks,

As a remark, the projects you are talking about, are open-source and do not embrace the whole Jide objects and i think IMHO that one cannot expect important synergy from them - except if you are taking an active part in these projects.

You indicated a couple of months ago, that you were going to implement "home-made" data binding in your product.

Is that still planned ?

Could you tell us more globally what are your dev plans, what could we expect from Jide products in 2006.

I of course remember what we discussed before and the requirement document you sent to us. But I will not categorize it as a yet another data binding because there are too many data binding projects out there already. We consider it as a yet another component along our product line in JIDE Grids. In fact, Oracle ADF component has some of the features you are looking for already. You may want to take a look if haven't.

It's hard to tell you our exact dev plans because we don't even know it for sure. We have a list of component candidates as always (a lot of them). We will decide what to implement next based on priority - it could be affected by our own understanding of the priorities, or user feedbacks from emails or customer surveys we sent out, sometimes from services departments if customers ask for it in a contract. In general, you can expect a lot of more features in JIDE Grids, more general components in JIDE Components, a new version of JIDE Docking Framework and probably a couple of more separate new products in 2006.

Thanks,
