StandardDialog, Windows Vista menu icons replaced by ticks?

Postby chamberlain » Tue Aug 07, 2007 5:20 am

Hi,

I am using the JIDE StandardDialog in a number of applications. The dialog is used by a number of sub-class dialogs, which are displayed via actions. These actions are used by JMenuItems.

When I look at the menu at startup, the action's associated icon is displayed in the menu perfectly. After selecting a menu item and displaying a dialog based on StandardDialog, the icons are replaced by ticks, like a checkBoxMenuItem.

Does anybody know whats going on here? Is this a known issue with Windows Vista look and feel??

It is possible JIDE specific UIDefaults are installed when some of the JIDE components are used. To avoid this, you can call LookAndFeelFactory.installJideExtension(LookAndFeelFactory,VSNET_STYLE_WITHOUT_MENU) when app starts and whenever you switch L&F. I assume you don't use JIDE Action Framework.

Thanks,

Fantastic! That works, thanks very much for the tip.

We do not use the JIDE action framework at the moment, we use the Swing Action Manager (SAM). I am impressed with JIDE components however, so that may change...
