We want to change background color/image for the StatusBar and all StatusBarItems in our application. How can we do that?

Have you tried setting UIManager "StatusBar.background"? You may also need to set "StatusBar.childrenOpaque" to Boolean.FALSE so that the children items don't have their own background color.
