I 'm evaluating the jide-oss package for the use in one of my companies (closed source) projects. When browsing the source code I found some copyright notices which seem to be in confict with the GPL license under which jide.oss is published. For example
- Code: Select all
/*
* @(#)JideBorderLayout.java
*
* Copyright 2002 JIDE Software Inc. All rights reserved.
* Copyright 2002 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
* SUN PROPRIETARY/CONFIDENTIAL. Use is subject to license terms.
*/
Our legal department won't let me use the whole jide software as long as it contains third party copyrights, even if we purchased a commercial license.
Could someone please explain, why the code contains copyright notices from JIDE Software and Sun Microsystems although it is published under GPL?
